Excess vacation baggage to Hungary

Posted by: Wilma George

I am going to Hungary on an international mission trip and plan to spend nearly 3 months there. I will be doing some volunteering doing some light construction and repairs on various schools and such like buildings. They normally supply everything we need, but I would like to take along some of my own tools, along with sufficient work clothes so I don't have to be doing laundry every couple of days. With the restrictions the airlines have now on weight and number of bags, it was suggested that I should just take a small carry on bag and ship all the rest on ahead of me. Anyone have any experience with doing that? I'm sure it would be cheaper, but will there be any customs problems? They are pretty obviously used tools and personal belongings, but I don't want them to get tied up. OR disappear. Anybody have any thoughts on this idea?
